The frame is constructed from solid teak wood with a natural teak finish. Teak is selected for outdoor use due to its density, strength, and naturally high oil content, which helps resist moisture, insects, and decay. Each teak component displays natural variation in grain and color. With continued exposure to sun and weather, the teak will gradually weather to a silver-grey patina. Seasonal changes in temperature and humidity can cause the wood to expand and contract, resulting in minor hairline cracks at joints or within the grain. These characteristics are normal for solid teak and do not affect the structural integrity of the chair. In humid or rainy conditions, natural oils may rise to the surface and appear as temporary stains that diminish over time.

The lounge chair includes seat and back cushions upholstered in Panama or Copacabana fabric. These fabrics are made from 100% solution-dyed acrylic and are engineered to resist fading, stains, and mildew in outdoor environments. Cushion inserts are constructed with a poly-foam core wrapped in a poly-casing to reduce water penetration. Reticulated foam construction allows water to drain efficiently, supporting faster drying after rain or cleaning. Regular maintenance and proper drying help preserve cushion performance and extend service life.

The Cove Teak Outdoor Lounge Chair measures 31 inches in width, 31.5 inches in depth, and 32 inches in height. The seat height is 17.8 inches, and the arm height is 25 inches, providing balanced support for relaxed outdoor seating. The chair weighs approximately 34.2 lbs, offering stability while remaining easy to reposition within an outdoor layout. It coordinates with other Cove seating pieces, including sofas, sectionals, and footstools, allowing flexible arrangement options.

For installation, place the chair on a flat, level surface to ensure stability. To maintain the teak frame, clean periodically using water and a teak cleaner, scrubbing in the direction of the grain. For stubborn buildup, a power washer may be used from approximately 30 inches away and should not exceed 1200 PSI. Allow the frame to dry completely. Raised grain caused by moisture exposure can be smoothed with light sanding using 120-grit sandpaper. Upholstery should be brushed regularly to remove surface dirt and cleaned with mild soap and water. After cleaning or rainfall, tip cushions on their sides with zippers facing down and unzipped to ensure complete drainage.

• One of the highlights of natural teak is its beauty and grain. Each teak piece is unique.
• Depending on climate and exposure to elements, teak weathers to a beautiful silver-grey finish over time.
• The wood will expand and contract with changes in climate. Shrinking of the wood can result in hairline cracks in the assembly joints or the grain itself. This does not affect the structural integrity of the frame’s construction.
• The natural oils in teak may rise to the surface if exposed to rain and humidity, appearing like water stains.
• Oil content can vary between pieces, so oil surfacing may recur multiple times before it naturally subsides over a period of several months.

Care + Maintenance

Teak

• Maintain the original quality of the teak by applying Teak Cleaner at the beginning and end of each season.
  To keep the surfaces clean from dirt, mold and mildew, periodically hose with water and Teak Cleaner, scrubbing in the directions of the grain.
• For stubborn areas, use a power washer to clean. Hold the power washer approximately 30” away from the furniture and do not exceed 1200 PSI. Rinse and then allow to sun dry.
• Exposure to moisture over time can raise the wood grain.
• A light sanding with fine 120-grit sandpaper smooths the surface.

Upholstery + Inserts

To prevent embedded dirt stains, use a soft-bristle brush to frequently dust and remove dirt from the fabric.

• Use a mild cleaner with warm water or Fabric Cleaner and a soft-bristle brush and rinse thoroughly.
• Tip cushions on their sides with the zipper facing down and unzipped to ensure that all water drains.

Recommendations

• Furniture should be cleaned periodically and always before storing.
• If furniture is in a saltwater environment, rinse weekly to remove all salt.
• Avoid letting water stand on the surface of furniture and cushions.
• As with all purchases, we recommend using our custom furniture covers for items when not in use; furniture cushions and covers should be clean and dry before covering.

Special Considerations

"Gray Teak" is solid teak wood finished with a solution that expedites the aging process of teak to a natural silver tone. Over time, the natural weathering of Gray Teak will cause its appearance to change in color and texture, with possible marks and cracks. By ordering Gray Teak, you accept these characteristics and agree that no claim will be approved regarding the natural aging process of teak or the special color qualities associated with the Gray Teak finish.
