The BM Footstool is part of Børge Mogensen’s iconic Deck Chair Series, originally designed in the late 1960s with a commitment to honest materials and enduring function. Designed to complement the BM Deck Chair in both proportion and aesthetic, this foldable outdoor footstool extends comfort while preserving the understated elegance of Danish modern design. It may also be paired with a teak tray to create a refined, low-profile outdoor table.

Crafted from solid FSC-certified untreated teak, the BM Footstool highlights the purity of natural hardwood construction. Teak is prized for its density, strength, and high natural oil content, making it exceptionally suitable for outdoor environments. Over time, untreated teak will gracefully weather into a distinguished silver-gray patina if left exposed to the elements.

The frame is reinforced with stainless steel fittings for durability and corrosion resistance. The suspended seat is upholstered in Sunbrella® fabric in Heritage Papyrus — selected for its natural woven appearance, weather resistance, and ease of maintenance. Sunbrella fabric is engineered to resist fading, mildew, and moisture while maintaining a soft, textile-like feel.

Special Considerations – Untreated Teak

This footstool is crafted from solid, untreated FSC-certified teak. As a living material, teak will naturally respond to its environment.

• Natural Weathering: If left untreated, teak will gradually develop a soft silver-gray patina when exposed to sun and moisture. This process is purely aesthetic and does not affect structural integrity.
• Surface Changes: Hairline cracks, checking, and subtle movement may occur as the wood expands and contracts with temperature and humidity changes. These characteristics are normal and part of solid hardwood performance.
• Color Variation: Each piece will feature natural tonal variation and grain differences, making every table unique.

Care + Maintenance

• To maintain the warm golden-brown tone, apply teak oil periodically.
• To allow for natural aging, simply clean with mild soap and water as needed.
• Avoid harsh chemicals or pressure washing, which can damage the wood fibers.

Storage: For extended longevity, cover or store in a dry, ventilated space during extreme weather conditions.
