The Monterey square outdoor market umbrella defines a crisp shade footprint with flexible fiberglass ribs, an aluminum center pole and reinforced canopy pockets. Its crank-operated auto-tilt makes daily adjustment convenient, and the selected frame finish and marine-grade acrylic canopy color give the design a tailored presence. Two square sizes suit residential seating areas and hospitality furniture layouts with a strong geometric character.

Design / Use Context
On contemporary patios and hospitality pool decks, the square Monterey brings adjustable coverage to a clearly organized seating area. Its straight canopy edges work well with angular architecture, while the tilt function helps manage lower sunlight during calm conditions. Leave clearance for the canopy to move, and select the base for the exact size and installation rather than relying on furniture to provide support.
Care & Maintenance
-
Canopy Cleaning: Remove loose dirt with a soft brush. Use low-pressure fresh water and solvent-free mild soap in lukewarm water, then rinse thoroughly. Follow the instructions for the selected fabric before stain treatment.
-
Drying & Storage: Allow the canopy to air-dry completely before prolonged closure, covering or storage. If it must be closed while wet, reopen it to dry as soon as conditions allow.
-
Frame & Mechanism: Rinse salt and chloride deposits from the aluminum frame and hardware with fresh water. Check the crank, rib pockets and mounting fasteners before use; stop if the mechanism resists movement.
-
Opening & Closing: Separate the ribs gently and pull fabric clear of the frame before operating the crank. Use auto-tilt only in suitable calm conditions and follow the supplied operating instructions.
-
Wind & Unattended Use: Close and secure the umbrella when unattended, in strong winds or before severe weather. A published wind rating is a tested-condition guide, not a guarantee against damage.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does auto-tilt do?
The crank-operated system opens the canopy and provides automatic tilt adjustment. Follow the supplied instructions to position the shade; do not operate the tilt in windy conditions.
Is the whole frame fiberglass?
No. The ribs and struts are flexible fiberglass, while the 1.5-inch center pole is aluminum. The crank handle and axle are 316L stainless steel.
Which base should I choose?
Base requirements vary with canopy size, wind exposure and freestanding or under-table placement. Confirm the pole fit and required weight with BOXHILL. The umbrella still needs a base when used with a table.
Can I leave the umbrella open in windy weather?
The published guide is 40 mph for this canopy type under the supplier’s specified test conditions. It does not apply while tilted and does not provide wind-damage warranty coverage. Close and secure the umbrella when unattended or in strong winds; site conditions and anchoring matter.
How do I care for the canopy?
Clean gently with a soft brush, mild solvent-free soap and low-pressure water, then rinse and air-dry completely. Use the selected fabric’s care instructions for stain removal.
What warranty applies?
Limited coverage depends on the model, fabric, residential or commercial use, and correct installation and care. Confirm the written terms for your configuration with BOXHILL. Wind damage and rooftop/elevated installations are excluded from the published coverage.
Where can I review shipping, returns and cancellations?
This umbrella is made to order. The current product terms state that cancellations and change-of-mind returns are not accepted. Review the Shipping Policy, Return Policy and Terms & Conditions before ordering, and contact BOXHILL promptly about a damaged or defective delivery.
