Design / Use Context

The Provencal Outdoor Jar Verdigris works beautifully as a singular garden focal point or as part of a layered grouping of planters and architectural vessels. Its softly weathered clay body and verdigris-glazed rim introduce color without overwhelming the surrounding landscape, pairing naturally with stone, gravel, aged wood, plaster, greenery, and other tactile materials. The smaller 22-inch size works well near entrances, along terraces, and within intimate garden compositions, while the larger 27-inch jar provides greater visual presence for courtyards, expansive patios, and hospitality landscapes. Its handmade irregularity, historic form, and evolving relationship with the outdoors make it particularly appropriate for Wabi Sabi, Mediterranean, rustic modern, and organic garden settings.

Care

It is essential that water can drain freely from your garden container’s drainage holes. We recommend a sheet of filter screen over the drainage holes and adding 2-3 inches of crushed stone at the bottom of the container before filling with a potting soil intended for use in containers. In winter, ensure that the container is elevated an inch or more off the ground with pot feet or wedges. Use of saucers outdoors in winter is not recommended.
