PROJECT: Hacienda Lunt
INTERIOR DESIGNER: CJ Vohs
As avid travelers, ranchers and outdoor sports entrepreneurs, the Belgian-born Lunts were accustomed to maximizing their time outside. So, when interior designer CJ Vohs partnered with Elizabeth to extend the couple’s global aesthetic and active lifestyle into their Tucson backyard, only one result was acceptable: pure outdoor alchemy.
The home itself was a quiet complement to the surrounding desert landscape:
a sprawling estate with soft-edged Southwestern angles and a sand-colored adobe exterior. But the interior was another story entirely, defined by bold splashes of color and thoughtful details at every turn. Vohs challenged Elizabeth to match this level of energy—while drawing inspiration from all over the world.
Flora: A Color Story
As an Arizona-based landscape designer, Elizabeth has a deep working knowledge of the prettiest AND hardiest desert natives—and how to begin building an outdoor palette with strategic plantings. Crimson lantana and amethyst salvia clevelandi play beautifully alongside every conceivable shade of green; light, feathery leaves of muhlenbergia and featherleaf cassia complement the sturdier shapes of saguaro and agave.
Well Traveled = Well Lived
As Belgians living in the American Southwest, the Lunts welcomed a wide variety of cultural touchpoints in their home. So, guided by the palette of her plantings and a lifetime of wanderlust, Elizabeth created a colorful, cohesive sanctuary with details from every corner of the globe. Think: traditional Turkish banco seating with mosaic toe-kicks, adorned with Moroccan pillows and illuminated by Mexican star lights—all blending perfectly with an oversized mosaic agave leaf water feature.
"Travel—it leaves you speachless, then turns you into a storyteller."

Barefoot Luxury Goes Global
Collaborating with CJ Vohs on Hacienda Lunt was one of the most delightful and eye-opening experiences in Elizabeth’s career—inspiring her to explore unexpected combinations of texture, color and culture in ways she’d never before considered. It also cemented her singular vision of “barefoot luxury”: beautiful, lived-in outdoor spaces made to be used…and loved…for a lifetime.
And finally, it’s the project that unveiled the alchemy that can only happen when two wonderfully unique minds come together! Featured in Sunset magazine, Hacienda Lunt led to fruitful long-term relationships with clients like Ritz-Carlton and partners like installer Elie Azar. Wondering what magic WE can conjure together?
